About Us
Birthright of Charlotte was founded in 2023 to assist women in the Charlotte metro area who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies.
Our History
Birthright began in Toronto, Canada, in 1968, when Louise Summerhill, a busy wife and mother of seven children, felt something should be done to help women facing unplanned pregnancies. Twelve years later, in 1980, Hank and Sally Chardos opened the Columbia SC chapter, now one of about 250 locations served by Birthright International.
Hank served as the Executive Director of Birthright of Columbia for 41 years. In 2023, Hank and Sally founded the Charlotte Chapter! Our office is open, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Birthright is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Services are free and confidential. Contact us today to see how we can help.
